Friedman - LLoyd David (Buck) , age 96 Years.
Lloyd attended Yates grade school, and graduated from Omaha Central High School where he was the city singles champion in tennis. A graduate of University of Nebraska, he was a member of Zeta Beta Tau fraternity, where he served as President in 1936 followed by many years as a trustee. He was also President of the InterFraternity Council and earned a varsity letter on the 1936-37 Nebraska tennis team.
Lloyd served five years in World War II in the infantry in Europe with the 134th and 137th Regiments and 35th Division. He was awarded the Bronze Star and the Croix de Guere from Luxembourg. At the conclusion of the War he was discharged as a Major.
Lloyd worked for Herzberg’s as Vice President for nine years and then founded Allied Insurers in 1956. Later, the company merged with A&A Insurance, and he was President of Independent Insurance Agents of Omaha. An avid golfer and tennis player, he was a “dyed-in-the-wool” Husker football fan.
He was President of the former Highland Country Club and also served on the Board of Trustees of Temple Israel Synagogue.
In February of 1947, Lloyd married Lois Novitsky of Sioux City, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by parents Samuel and Goldye Friedman of Omaha and brother Alvin Friedman of Kansas City, MO.
Survived by wife Lois, son and daughter-in-law Scott and Debbie Friedman of Omaha, grandchildren Jennifer and Robert Roth of Chicago and Angela Friedman of Omaha, nieces and nephews.
