Patricia Ann Kern

Patricia was born Aug. 11, 1938 to Paul and Verda (Bates) Tobin. After graduating from high school in Riverdale, ND, she moved to Omaha. Pat Married Donald Kern on Thanksgiving Day 1959. When the last of their five children reached school age Pat took a job at Creighton Prep in the Alumni Office, where she worked for over 20 years. For her work organizing “BASH” and other fundraising events she was inducted into the Creighton Prep Hall of Fame in 1979—the first woman to be so honored. For over 40 years parishioners at St. Pius X Church enjoyed her organ and piano playing at Mass, Children’s Mass and at celebrations of all manner. She and Don worked many volunteer hours at St. Pius X/St. Leo school in the cafeteria as well as the classroom. Pat’s family and many friends will always remember her fun-loving and generous spirit. She knew no strangers; everywhere she traveled she connected with people from all walks of life. She is preceded in death by husband, Don. Survived by sons, Patrick (Kim), John (Valerie), Paul (Lisa) and Tim; daughter Amy (Marcel DeVetten) Kern; sisters, Kate Meyer and Mary (Fred) McPherson; 9 grandchildren; 9 nieces and nephews.
