Joan "Joey" (Gjervik) Kangas was the first of two daughters born to Melvin
and Ethelmae (Prentice) Gjervik. Joey was born September 6, 1930 in St.
James, Minnesota.

Joey is preceded in death by her parents Melvin and Ethelmae (Prentice)
Gjervik, sister Merry Joy and husband of 52 years, Allan.

Joey is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Todd and Pat, of Lenexa,
Kansas; son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Becky; daughter and son-in-law,
Laurie (Sayles) and Mike; daughter, Tracy; sons, Jeff and Seth; all of
Omaha; nieces Lynn Tobey, Leigh Swogger and Kara Campbell; nephews Mark
Edwards and Michael Edwards; 21 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren.

Jim was a graduate of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with Bachelor of Science degrees in Electrical
Engineering and Computer Science. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in Vietnam from 1969
until 1971. Jim was employed with Delphi Delco Electronics from 1983 until his retirement in 2010.
A member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, Jim will be remembered as a generous man, often going
out of his way to help those in need. He enjoyed his motorcycle, carpentry, and tending to his vegetable
He is survived by his children, Michelle (Justin) Johnson Jones and David (Cristina) Johnson;
grandchildren, Anna Jones and Claire Johnson; siblings, Elaine (James) Feeney, Mary (Martin) Smith,
Thomas (Vicki) Johnson and Katherine (Timothy) Rasinski; as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Bernard Robert “Bob” Johnson and Richard Paul
