Services: A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, 1/ 26/15, 10:00 a.m., St. John’s Church at Creighton University. Burial will take place at the Schuyler Cemetery in Schuyler, NE at 2:00 P.M. 

Visitation: Visitation begins Sunday 2:30 P.M. at the John A. Gentleman Mortuaries, 72nd Street Chapel, 1010 North 72 Street Omaha, Nebraska 68154, with a Wake Service at 4:00 P.M.

At age 83 she died peacefully in Omaha, Nebraska, surrounded by her five sons singing to her as she passed on to heaven.  

Marilyn was a graduate of Kramer High School in Columbus, NE, and earned an RN degree at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Lincoln, NE.  She attended Duchesne College, Creighton University and Doane College, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree. After working as a nurse in one of the first polio clinics in Texas, Marilyn returned to Nebraska to become a nurse instructor in Omaha. In her retired years, she re-joined St. Elizabeth’s to work in pastoral care.

Marilyn’s greatest joy and deepest love was her family.  She was a devoted mother, beloved grandmother and great grandmother, whose Catholic faith carried her through life’s many challenges. Marilyn enjoyed fashion, travel and celebrating her sons’ numerous accomplishments. 

She is survived by her sons, Stephen (Anne) Omaha,  James (MaryJo) Bellevue, WA, Mark (Marybeth Easley) Brooklyn, NY, Robert (Megan) Seattle, WA, Paul (Martha) Lincoln, and their father, M. James Bruckner of Whidbey Island, WA; 16  grandchildren and two great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Michael and Louise Kaasch, and brother, Michael Kaasch.

Michael served 4 years in the U.S. Air Force. He was a long time employee of the U.S. Postal Service. He had met many people and made many friends during his years of service on his various routes as a mail carrier in Omaha. Preceded in death by mother, Maria "Helena" Bryson Bell. Survived by his wife, Michele (Knecht) Bell; son, Brandon (Emily) Bell; daughters, Mya and Bijou; grandchildren, Logan and Ella; father, Jim Bell; sisters, Vicki (Robert) Schaevitz of Sacramento, CA, Patricia Bell, of Orangevale, CA, and Kim Larson of Lincoln, NE; brother, Tom Bell of Los Angeles, CA.In lieu of flowers memorials to the family.

Ronald Ernst Hess, 78

. Ronald was born in Omaha on May 31, 1936. He attended Central High School in Omaha and graduated from Iowa State University, Ames, IA with both a B.S. and Masters of Architecture. Ron practiced architecture in Cedar Rapids, IA. Later he became a professor of Architecture and taught at University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Oxford Brooks University, University of Oklahoma, Kansas State University and retired from Montana State University, Bozeman, MT. Ron and Judy Needham Hess were united in marriage August 25, 1962. Survivors include wife Judy Hess; daughters and sons-in-law, Maren and John Engelmohr, St. Louis, MO, Christine and Steve Baker, Omaha, NE, Lisa and Brian Holle, Bakersfield CA; grandchildren, Eviea and John Henry Engelmohr, Gretchen and Jeremy Baker, Brandon (wife Summer), Noah, and Morgan Holle; sisters, Elaine Russell (husband Ed), Karen Saxvik; nieces and nephews, Mark Wiesner (wife Helene), Jill Lile, Beth Boyens (husband Scott), Sarah Reuchlin (husband Roy), Matthew, Corrine and Hoel Wiesner, Julian and Peter Lile, Anna, Ethan, Emma, and Adam Boyens, Betty Reichlin. Preceded in death by parents Evelyn and George Hess. Cremation; no viewing or visitation.
