Brandi M. Bengtson

May 23, 1991 — July 7, 2022

Brandi May Bengtson was born in Rapid City, South Dakota on May 23, 1991. She was the youngest of three children and moved with the family to Mountain Home, Idaho in 1996, and then Incirlik, Turkey in 1999. The family returned to Nebraska in 2002, where Brandi then attended Bellevue Public Schools from grades 6th through 12th. She graduated from Bellevue East High School in 2009, and then completed her B.A. in English from UNL in 2013, and her Master's in Library Sciences from Mizzou in 2020.

She had always loved books and reading, and had decided at an early age that being a librarian was her life's goal. She started working for Bellevue University Library as a part-time circulation assistant shortly after completing her B.A. She was promoted on June 5th, 2018 to the newly created position of Electronic Services Specialist. She enjoyed being a Librarian and maintaining and improving the University's website.

She was an avid writer of fiction throughout her life for personal enjoyment. Her quick wit combined with a helpful, kind spirit made her a pleasure to be around, and she was loved by an abundance of friends and family. Her parents were told by many over the years that their daughter was "such a happy person", which was true even in the last days of her life. She strove to see the best in people, and always accepted them as they were.

Diagnosed with aggressive Cholangiocarcinoma on June 7th, she made a valiant fight to get better, but it had moved into her lungs, so her fight was short.

She is preceded in death by her grandfather Willis Bengtson, grandmother Joyce Forrest, and niece Elizabeth Katherine Bengtson (daughter of Jeremy & Callie).

She leaves behind grandmother Lucile Bengtson, parents Wayne and Stephanne (Forrest) Bengtson, as well as brother Jeremiah Bengtson and wife Callie (Calabretto), and sister Brittany Bengtson. She was a good friend to many others and will be sorely missed by all.

It was our privilege and pleasure to have known and loved our daughter Brandi for the thirty one years she had on this earth. We look forward to seeing her and her beautiful smile when we join her in heaven.
