Carol A. Gosney

February 24, 1938 — November 26, 2022

Carol Gosney (Murray), 84, died on November 26, 2022 after a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease. Carol was born February 24, 1938, to Leo & Dorothy Murray, in Omaha, Nebraska. She was the younger sister of Nancy Hooton (Lynn). She met the love of her life, Dick Gosney, while working at the Brandeis department store, and they married August 19, 1961. She and Dick shared two daughters, Cori and Cheri.

She received her teaching degree from College of St. Mary in 1960, then attained her Masters in Learning Disabilities from Creighton University. She taught History at Marian High School for 33 years. While at Marian, Carol inaugurated Freshman Volleyball, Freshman Basketball, Marian Awareness Club, & Young Democrats. She coached several sports and was the Junior Class Moderator for many years. She also taught English at both Metropolitan Community College and the Omaha Corrections Center. In her later years, she was a devoted Boys Town volunteer. When she became a grandma, that was Carol’s richest blessing.

She loved to play bridge, any card games, and Scrabble. Carol found joy in dancing, golfing, and watching her beloved Huskers and Cubbies.

Carol is survived by her two daughters, Cori Tranisi (Jim) & Cheri Gimenez (Pete), 5 grandchildren - Andrew & Christian Gimenez, Emma Orozco (Miguel), Brittani Grim (Kyle), and Dana Thomas (James), and 5 great-grandchildren - Miguel Jr., Brody, Cruz, Norah, and baby Grim on the way.
