Edward "Ted" Phelps

d. November 10, 2018

Edward ‘Ted’ Phelps, Age 88, was welcomed home by his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, November 10th, 2018. Ted was an Omahan through-and-through and a NEBRASKA FAN with capital letters. Ted served in the Army with his brother during the Korean War and upon his return he met the love of his life. They were happily married for 46 years and were devoted to their two sons and doing things together as a family.

Ted grew up attending church and most recently attended Covenant Presbyterian Church for the last 10 years. He helped with many church activities and served on the hospitality committee, participated in Life Chain with his family to stand up for the miracle and sanctity of unborn children, and enjoyed attending and volunteering with his family at Promise Keepers and Women of Faith conferences. His life truly reflected his love and devotion to his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Ted lived a meaningful life of loving, giving, and serving others, and he enjoyed his family, friends, pets, and many interests including drawing, nature, church activities, get-togethers, dining out, and traveling. He was a gentle, faithful, servant-hearted, and patriotic man who endeavored to serve his Lord, adored his wife, provided for his family, played ball with his boys after work, and proudly defended his country ~ the United States of America.

Ted was a humble man of integrity who is deeply loved, highly respected, and who will be dearly missed ~ he has left a lasting legacy as an example for all of us to follow.

Ted was preceded in death by his beloved wife, parents, sister, and two sisters-in-law; and is survived by his two sons, daughter-in-law, brother, and brother-in-law, along with many other beloved family members and dear friends.

Safely Home

I am home in Heaven, dear ones;

Oh, so happy and so bright!

There is perfect joy and beauty

In this everlasting light.

All the pain and grief is over,

Every restless tossing passed;

I am now at peace forever,

Safely home in Heaven at last.

Did you wonder I so calmly

Trod the valley of the shade?

Oh! But Jesus’ love illuminated

Every dark and fearful glade.

And He came Himself to meet me

In that way so hard to tread;

And with Jesus’ arm to lean on,

Could I have one doubt or dread?

Then you must not grieve so sorely,

For I love you dearly still:

Try to look beyond earth’s shadows,

Pray to trust our Father’s Will.

There is work still waiting for you,

So you must not idly stand;

Do it now, while life remaineth-

You shall rest in Jesus’ land.

When that work is all completed,

He will gently call you Home;

Oh, the rapture of that meeting,

Oh, the joy to see you come!
