Emma Sue Olsen

July 11, 2001 — May 29, 2022

Emma Sue Olsen was born into this world on July 11th, 2001 in Omaha, Nebraska. Her mother, Janelle, gave birth to Emma at the age of 21 at Methodist Hospital off 84th and Dodge. Emma’s biological father is Anthony A. Aguilera. Emma and her mom lived with Emma’s grandparents’, Jim and Sue Olsen, for the first two years after she was born, then moved into their newly built home off 166th and Blondo. This would be where Emma lived for all 20 years, 11 months and 19 days of her life.

In 2004, Wes Simpson and Janelle married, and Wes (along with his entire family) loved and treated Emma as their own. Emma kept close connections to Wes and his daughter Hilary after he and Janelle divorced in 2006. When Wes remarried to Andrea who has two girls of her own, Sydney and Macey, Emma’s connection with Hilary, Sydney and Macey became a sisterhood. Emma also has a biological half-sister, Olivia, so although Emma was an only child, she had 4 sisters. When Emma was 7 (2008), Janelle and Bob Logan began dating and married in 2015 and raised Emma together ever since. Bob’s family, too, loved and accepted Emma as their own. Emma loved all her cousins and extended family. She loved the family cabin in Minnesota and spent many happy days their with family and friends.

Emma attended Picotte Elementary School through 4th grade, Alice Buffet Middle School from 5th through 8th grade, and graduated from Harry A. Burke High School in 2019. In high school, she was a cheerleader from freshman year well into her senior year. During her later years at Burke, she became more and more of a free spirit that just wanted to fly and live life to the fullest. She constantly was meeting new friends and always brightened their spirits with her infectious smile, sarcasm, and loving heart.

Emma was an exceptional makeup artist who had countless friends coming over to be made beautiful for homecoming, prom, senior pictures, and friend photo shoots. That passion of hers led to her decision to enroll at Capitol Beauty School in January 2019 but decided soon after she just wasn’t ready to commit. Emma also self-taught herself to play piano and ukulele by ear. Art was another passion of Emma’s. The artistic talent she possessed was hands down God-given. Her portraits were just astounding and reflected such depth. Emma was especially drawn to the child artist, Akiane Kramarik, who painted Jesus’ face on a canvas she saw in her dreams. Emma recreated one of those portraits and it is just surreal to think that that she can now forever look into her TRUE Father’s eyes for eternity instead of that breath-taking portrait which, for now, is all we can imagine as mortal souls until we meet our Maker above.

She recently found a love for longboarding and wanted to also give skateboarding a try. At the end of the day, however, her true love was for animals – especially dogs. She had a gift of being able to make them literally smile, be calm, snuggle when they are not even a snuggly dog, and make them enjoy a bath when they absolutely despise them. That was her latest newfound passion in this life as a dog groomer.

Emma was barely home, which we are learning that she was out in this world spreading her joy to everyone and anyone she met. So many have shared their stories of her ability to light up a room and it is all coming together now when we think back to why it is that Emma lived the life she lived. She had a purpose and meaning…she is Emma Sue Olsen…she is a forever beautiful memory to us all.

She is survived by her Mother, Janelle Leanne (Robert) Logan; biological father, Anthony A. (Julianne R.) Aguilera; sister, Olivia P. Aguilera; brother, Chapin Shaffer; grandparents, James and Susan Olsen, Charles and Sandy Logan; Aunts, Jaimie (Olsen) Cogua and Jose F.
