Frances Joann (Née Brown) Morris

August 17, 1932 — June 17, 2021

Frances Joann (née Brown) Morris was born in Corning, IA. She was the fifth of eight children of Marion and Rosanna Brown.



She attended Clarkson Nursing School and became a Registered Nurse.



Joann married Floyd James Morris on May 7, 1955 at Holy Angels Catholic Church in Omaha.



She and Floyd had six daughters. Joann stayed home and raised the girls until the youngest was 14. At that time, Joann went back to work as an RN at Villa de Sante Nursing Home, eventually becoming Director of Nurses.



Joann was a lover of opera and classical music, reading and writing, travel, Brown Family Reunions and the Cornhuskers. She had a collection of collections, including angels, witches, music boxes, geese, turtles, bees, cornhusk dolls, and Hallmark ornaments.



From 2017 to 2020, she wrote her own autobiography, "Good Grief", which she published in 2020 for her family.



Far and away, her greatest joy was spending time with her family.



She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd; grandson, Jeffrey; great granddaughter, Charlotte; parents; brothers, Clifford, Bernard (and his wife, Judy) and Gerald; sisters, Lois Scott (and her husband, Gerald Scott), and Berneita Dunham (and her husband, Morris Dunham).



Joann is survived by daughters: Judy (Bill) Vieth, Patricia, Terri (Randy) Park, Cathy (Todd) Clark, Mary, and Amy; eight grandchildren: Sarah Park, Chris (Asya) Park, Hannah (Jake) Hasz, Brian Morse, Christina (Matt) Clark-Okarmus, Jennifer (Travis) Konrath, Emily Clark, Anna (Wyatt) Suter; great-grandchildren: Andy Konrath, Lily Hasz and Nora Clark-Okarmus; sisters: Judy (Dennis) Grantham and Rosanna Walker; sisters-in-law: Darlene Brown and Illah Brown; her cat, Max: many nieces and nephews.



She was the rock of her family.



VISITATION: Wednesday June 23 at 5:30pm at the John A. Gentleman Mortuaries, 72nd Street Chapel with a WAKE SERVICE at 6:30pm.



SERVICES: Thursday June 24, 11am at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church.



Inurnment Calvary Cemetery.
