Gerald L. Earl

March 11, 1939 — March 21, 2022

Survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Linda Earl; son, Tim (Angie) Earl; grandchildren, Bella and Ayden; sister, Louise (Marvin) Bauman; nephews, Jim (Angie) Bauman and Paul (Hope) Bauman; his extended family and many good friends.

Gerry was born March 11, 1939, officially. He actually was born March 12, 1939. His mother and father lived on a farm in the hills along the river near Murray, Nebraska. It was very muddy, and the doctor got stuck about halfway to the house. Gerry’s dad had to come take him the rest of the way by horse and wagon. Labor was going very slowly, and the doctor was bored and had read all the books and magazines, so he went ahead and filled out the birth certificate with that date’s information, even though he wasn’t born until the next day. The date never got changed.

Shortly after the family moved to a farm near Murdock, Nebraska. Gerry went to school at Murdock through high school. He loved to play basketball and some baseball.

He was inducted into the army and was stationed at Fort Dix, NJ at the time President Kennedy was killed. Gerry got to be in the army detail at the cemetery.

On coming home, he went to school at Milford Southeast Community College, and learned computer programming. He then worked at the federal reserve bank after Milford as a programmer and taught computer programming at Iowa Western Community College later in his career

.

Gerry and Linda loved to travel across the United States in their RV. As a season ticketholder, he enjoyed going to Husker football games from the late 1980’s to the early 2000’s with his son, Tim.

Gerry enjoyed going to his granddaughter Bella's plays, and grandson Ayden’s baseball games later in life.
