H. David Neely

Neely, Henry David, Sr., August 17, 1927-November 17, 2020, Omaha. He was preceded in death by his mother Anne Dennis Neely, his father, Robert Donald (R.D.) Neely, his sister, Donna Neely Potts, and his infant brother Peter Elmendorf Neely. Survived by wife, Nancee Peterson Neely; two children, son H. David (Dave) Neely, Jr. and daughter-in-law Joni Glantz Neely, and daughter Lizbeth (Beth) Neely Stanek and son-in-law Michael E. (Mike) Stanek; six grandchildren, Robert Neely, Emma Neely, and Kaitlin Neely, and Michael C. (Buck) Stanek, Jonathon (Jack) Stanek, and Ashley Stanek.

David died with grace and courage after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s. He was a graduate of Central High School in Omaha and a member of their ROTC, a U.S. Navy Veteran, attended Stanford University, graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where he was a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity. He attended Northwestern Law School and graduated with honors from the University of Nebraska Law School. David was a long-time Omaha banking Trust Attorney, President of Northwestern Trust Company, and Trust Attorney for First National Bank of Omaha. He was a long-time board member for the Omaha Home for Boys and Prospect Hill Cemetery and Arboretum; member of the Omaha Rotary Club-West, Omaha Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite, Royal Order of Jesters, & Omaha Pro-Tem. He was a dedicated and loving father, husband, and friend. David will always be remembered as a funny, king, and caring man – who everyone loved. He adored his wife of 66 years, Nancee, his children Dave & Beth, and his six grandchildren. We will miss him dearly, but he will live forever in our hearts.
