Irene Madge Lofdahl

January 18, 1923 — August 26, 2018

Irene was born on January 18, 1923 in Lyons, Nebraska to Leslie Frank Beemer and Bessie May Taylor Beemer. She attended and graduated from Lyons High School in 1941. She worked for some time in Utah for the Union Pacific Railroad before marrying John Alfred Lofdahl on February 14, 1945, who preceded her in passing on January 26, 1988. They farmed in the Craig, Nebraska area for 44 years. During her later years on the farm, she worked at Tekamah Care, a nursing home in Tekamah, Nebraska. She moved to Omaha, Nebraska in 1991. She was a caring daughter, wife, mother, sister and just a great woman. She is survived by her son, David John Lofdahl, daughter-in-law Karen Keuck Lofdahl, Grandsons Matt and wife Paige and Chris and wife Kelly Lofdahl, Granddaughter Connie Lofdahl and husband Anderson Current, and Great Granddaughters Taylor, Payton, Jyllian and Mya and Great Grandsons William, Tyler and Arlo. Irene is also survived by sisters-in-law Anna Mae Lofdahl Carlson of Omaha, Edith Lofdahl and husband Max Bokelman and brother-in-law James and wife Janet Lofdahl of California along with nieces Mary Lou Carlson Brown of Colorado, Janet Bokelman Thomas of Mass., Tracia Lofdahl Ord and Taryn Lofdahl Preciado of California, and nephews Robert Lofdahl of Virginia, Edward Lofdahl and John Bokelman of California, Lyle Carlson of Missouri, Don Carlson of Omaha and Douglas Lofdahl of Oregon.

She loved her immediate and extended families, as they loved her. She loved them above all. She could never do enough for her family and friends. She cherished her relationships with her many friendships throughout her years. Those whose lives she touched will always love her and cherish the relationship they shared with her. She never lost her love for flowers, especially lilacs and roses, finding great joy working in her beautiful flower beds both on the farm and at her home in Omaha. Irene and her siblings loved music, especially when they could all play and sing together as a family. Irene was a devout Christian and studied the Bible religiously in her later years after leaving the farm. She had a great heart. She was a great cook and canned some of the best apple sauce ever consumed. Her fried chicken dinners have been talked about for years.

Irene passed peacefully, at home with family at her side, and went to be with her Lord on 08-26-2018
