James W Quinn

April 25, 1932 — October 6, 2016

James W. Quinn, 84, a longtime resident of Iowa City, passed away peacefully at his home in Omaha surrounded by his loving family on October 6, 2016. He was preceded in death by sister, Mary Quinn, and son-in-law, Keith Brown, loving husband of Lisa. He was born on April 25, 1932 in Fort Dodge, Iowa to John and Blanche Quinn. After graduating from Fort Dodge High in 1951, he enlisted in the United States Navy, where he served on the USS Wasp during the Korean War. Following his service, he attended Fort Dodge Junior College and The Chicago Art Institute where he received his fine arts degree. He was an amazing artist and salesman and employed these talents as an entrepreneur throughout his life, notably as the official souvenir vendor of the Iowa State Fair and promoter of the Iowa Hawkeyes "Tiger Hawk” logo. He was an active member of St. Thomas More Church for over 40 years. His Irish wit and love of life could be felt by all who knew him. He would say his greatest legacy was his loving family.
