Joan Johns

Joan Johns, was born 18 Feb 1930, in Scottsbluff, Nebraska, the daughter of Lemuel Leonard and Ann Geigel Hays of Mitchell, Nebraska. She attended the rural school Sunny Slope thru the eighth grade, then the Mitchell High School graduating in the spring of 1948. Joan attended the Scottsbluff Junior College graduating in the spring of 1951. While she was in college, she worked part-time at the North Central Gas Company and Scottsbluff Public Library. After graduation she worked full-time at the Consumers Public Power company until her marriage to Clyde L. Johns on June 1st, 1952. She moved with her husband to Cape Cod, Massachutts, Falmouth, Massachusetts and on December 31, 1952 to Brooklyn, New York. After her husband was discharged from service they returned to Gering, Nebraska until Clyde went to school in Milford, Nebraska. There she worked in Lincoln, Nebraska at the Henkle and Joyce Wholesale Hardware store. In the Spring, she and Clyde moved back and lived in Mitchell, where she worked at the L.B. Murphy Store in Scottsbluff, keeping the books for their eight stores. In 1971, she started working for Trans Nutronic Corporation until it was sold. In 1994, she started part-time at the law offices of Harris and Lippstreu and full time there in 1996. After the law firm closed in 2000, she worked at the Safe-Haven, Inc. until 2011. Joan was a past honored queen of the Job's Daughters Bethel #26 of Mitchell.

Preceded in death by husband, Clyde Johns; parents, Leonard and Anne Hays; sisters, Kathryne Kaman, Virginia Pedersen; son in law, William Jackson.

Survived by daughter, Karen Jackson; nieces and nephews.
