John H Smith

November 30, 1946 — August 13, 2016

Retired MSgt John H. Smith, Jr. was born on November 30, 1946 in Mobile, Alabama to Hester Smith and the late John H. Smith, Sr. On the evening of Saturday, August 16, 2016 he received his wings. He was preceded in death by his brothers Stanley Smith and Robert Sanders and brother in-laws Carl Robinson and Ronnie Robinson







John served in the United States Air Force from October 1966-August 1991 as a Communication and Navigation System Technician. He received numerous awards and accolades such as the Air Force Commendation Medal, Air Force Achievement Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal, to name a few. Upon retirement from the Air Force John sought a second career with the United States Postal Service retiring 1 June 2016, but most importantly John was a devoted husband, father, son, brother and uncle. He believed in family and wanted nothing but the best for all of his family.







John leaves to cherish his memories his wife and best friend Dorothy Ann Green-Smith, son Christopher Smith and wife Sylvennie (Ocean Springs, MS), daughter Alesha Mckenzie and husband Roger (Bellevue, NE) and 3 grandsons Marcus McKenzie (Bellevue, NE), Jaden Smith and Jakari Smith (Ocean Springs, MS). He also leaves behind his mother Hester Smith (Detroit, MI), sisters Helaine Smith (Detroit, MI), Constance Smith-Robinson, Marcia Ann Robinson, brothers Clarence, Michael and Anthony Smith and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, extended family and friends.

Memorial Service Saturday, August 20, 2016 at 12:00PM at Capehart Chapel, 2500 Capehart Rd, Bellevue, Nebraska



Visitation:

Friday, August 19, 2016 from 5:00-8:00PM at the John A. Gentleman Mortuaries Bellevue/Sarpy County Chapel
