Leo John Homan

December 14, 1930 — June 18, 2020

Leo Homan 89, died on June 18, 2020. He was born December 14, 1930 in Cedar Rapids, NE to John and Margaret Homan. He grew up on the family farm, graduated from Cedar Rapids High School in 1948 and graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 1952.



He served in the U.S. Navy from 1952-1954 and was honorably discharged in 1958. He joined International Harvester Co. in 1955. He married Helen Joyce of Spalding NE. on June 22, 1957 and was blessed with three children, Sandra, Jim, and Linda. When he retired early in 1986 ending his 31 year career with International Harvester Co. he had risen to the position of Director of Credit for North America. He then worked for J. I. Case Co. in Racine, WI until moving to Arkansas in 1989. He and Helen were charter members of the Pinnacle Country Club in Rogers, AR.



Following Helen’s death in 2004, Leo married Nelda Fraka in January 2005. Nelda passed away in March of 2011. Leo was not only generous to his family, friends and his church, he was an active volunteer with organizations like the Office of Human Concern in AR, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul in both AR and NE and helped Pacific Springs Village residents create mats for use by the homeless.



He is survived by children Sandra (Mike) Koenig; Jim Homan; Linda (Bob) Cannon; Grandchildren Brian Koenig; Michelle (Jonny)Vu; Alexandra and Makenzie Homan; Tara, Evan, Jack and Kyle Cannon and Great-Granddaughter Lillian Vu; sister Rita Huelskamp; brother Paul (Rosi) Homan; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wives Helen and Nelda; sister Lorene Homan; brother Leonard Homan; daughter-in-law Darci Homan.
