Marilyn M. Harris

Born in Hampton, Nebraska, and raised in Broken Bow, NE, Marilyn was a devoted partner and wife to her husband Max. Their enduring and constant love was a cornerstone and grounded everything around them. This love was an example without comparison. Marilyn was a loving and involved mother to her children Mark, Mike, and Machelle. Her commitment to her relationship with Max provided a sterling example for her children and grandchildren. She taught everyone what true love was through her marriage to Max. They were able to celebrate 63 years of marriage together. They spent most of their time raising their family together in Hastings.



Marilyn was a skilled and involved teacher and mentor to so many of her students, and a confidante to her friends. Marilyn was known for enjoying a generous glass of wine and commanded a reputation as a mean card player. She loved to stay in contact with those she cared for, having a genuine interest in the small details and keeping up to date. She instilled a sense of the importance of family. Her faith was deeply important to her, as was her humor.



Marilyn leaves behind a legacy of strength and courage — perseverance and poise. Her resilience and joy for life is a lesson she passed on to all those who knew her. She knew how to make special memories out of small moments because she cherished spending time with loved ones. We all wish we had more moments to share with her. Rest easy now.



Survived by husband, Max; children, Mark (Barbie) and Mike (Kim) Harris and Machelle (Jeff) Sabin; grandchildren, John (Sarah), Michael, Hannah, Emmalie, Caleb, and Kaitlyn Harris, Michaela (Dominic) Anania, and Thomas Sabin; great grandchildren, Lily and Jack Harris and Olivia Anania; sister, Gwen (Louis) Stithem; sister in law, Harriett Fenster. Preceded in death by parents, Gerald and Dorothy Fenster; son, Mitchell; brother, Robert.



Visitation Wednesday, July 20th at 10:00AM, followed by a Service at 11:00AM at John A. Gentleman Mortuaries. Interment: Parkview Cemetery in Hastings, NE. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Hastings Literacy Program.
