Mary Bender Dunn

She was born to Robert F. Bender and Elizabeth Ramsey Bender in Omaha July 27, 1946. Mary moved to La Jolla, California as a teen and attended college at Santa Clara University and UCLA. Mary raised her daughters while living in San Diego and returned to Omaha in 1991. She renewed childhood friendships from her days attending school at St. Margaret Mary School. She and her friends were collectively and infamously known as “The Girls.” Mary worked as an administrative assistant in the UNO English and Political Science Departments where she was dearly loved by faculty, staff, and students alike. Mary is survived by her daughters, Jennifer (Taig) Hoeger and Molly Dunn; brother, William (Claudia) Bender; cousins, dear nieces and nephews, and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents and brother, Robert F. Bender, Jr. and his wife, Gabrielle. Mary’s daughters give heartfelt thanks to her Omaha cousins, Mollie Foster and Carol Ramsey, for their unending support during her illness. Mary will be remembered by all who loved her for her quiet strength and kindness.

Graveside Service Friday (8-4-17) 9:30 AM at Calvary Cemetery with a Memorial Service at 11:00 AM at the John A. Gentleman 72nd Street Chapel, Omaha, Nebraska.
