Mary E. Pierce

July 8, 1935 — October 20, 2019

Much beloved Mary E Pierce passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 20, 2019 surrounded by her family. She was born July 8, 1935 in North Boston, NY to Norman and Eleanor (Thiel) Schunk.

Mary is survived by her husband Joe, daughters Janice Pierce, Mary Beth (Craig) Stoffel, Stephanie (Ed) Hathaway, grandchildren Amber (Joe) Schaber, Brandon Stoffel, Kyle Stoffel, and Jessica (Jason) McGuff, and great grandchildren Jaxson Schaber and Zachery and Macy Daugherty. She is pre-deceased by her son Joseph Pierce.

Mary was the sister of late Clayton, Harold, Edward, Eugene, Norman, Robert, Elmer, Kenneth, Carol (Neiger) and Paul Schunk. She is survived by brothers James and Jerome Schunk of N. Boston, NY.

She was larger than life and continually proved anything was possible. She was only a few flight hours from earning her private pilot’s license, could easily defeat any challenger in bowling or golf, and was a self-taught wood carver whose beautiful creations were cherished by all of her friends and family. She was the undefeated family Jeopardy champion and knew the answer to every crossword puzzle clue.

She always looked forward to her regular talks with her baby brother Jerry and was happy to ask Alexa to settle their disagreements. Mary enjoyed sharing childhood memories of growing up on the farm with her siblings. Her quick wit, catching humor, and caring spirit will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
