Nancy Claire Schiring

November 28, 1952 — December 7, 2018

Nancy Claire Schiring, born November 28, 1952 in Cleveland, Ohio, lost an unfairly waged battle with cancer on Friday morning in Omaha. The daughter of Jules and Claire Pommier, Nancy’s passion for education spanned her entire adult life. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in elementary and special education from Bowling Green State University (Ohio) in 1974, and never looked back—from teaching in both public and parochial schools in her early adult life, to taking an active role in her two boys’ scholastic upbringing, to evaluating Millard Public Schools students’ requisite writing assessments in her later years. She brought passion and courageous strength to every challenge and goal that entered her sights.

Her entire life, she loved traveling with her friends and family; creating elaborate scrapbooks and albums which she often used to reflect on these memories. She leaves behind a myriad of friends and students, past and present, whose lives were enriched by her passion and the personal touch with which she approached all things educational and otherwise.

She leaves behind her devoted husband, Ralph Schiring, and her two sons Clark and Marshall Schiring. Nancy was also a beloved sister to Donna Hamilton (Robert Russell), Jules Pommier, and Dr. Linda Pommier (Bill Blackstone). Thank you to special friends, Cheryl Tomlinson and Terry Peterson and to The Hospice House for their loving care. There is shortage of hospice beds in Omaha; hence, the family requests that Memorials be made to the Josie Harper Hospice House, 7415 Cedar St., Omaha 68124 or www.hospicehouseomaha.org.

Not a day will go by that she is not loved and missed dearly.
