Pauline F. Gerweck

April 28, 1924 — May 17, 2022

Pauline was born on April 28, 1924 in St. Michael, Alberta, Canada.

She was the seventh of eight children born to John and Anastacia Pruss. Pauline attended LuCan grade school. For high school, she went to Edmonton and boarded at St. Mary’s convent. Upon graduation, she entered the workforce. About the same time, she met Everett Gerweck from the United States.

Pauline and Everett were married on August 5, 1943. Not long after marrying, they decided to move to Nebraska. They lived and worked in Hastings for about a year. Pauline and Everett moved to Falls City in 1944. They lived on the Gerweck family farm which was homesteaded by Everett’s grandfather. They had a daughter, Sherri, and a son, Terry. In 1951, they purchased their own farm in Dawson, Nebraska. Pauline and Everett lived and raised their family there for 17 years.

Pauline and Everett moved to Omaha in 1968 to be closer to their grown children. Pauline worked at UNO for ten years and later had a licensed daycare in her home. In 1990, Pauline and Everett joined the Friendship Force and traveled the world. They loved spending time with their family and five granddaughters. Everett passed away in 2009. Pauline continued to live independently until 2017 when she moved to New Cassel Retirement Center. For the past year and a half, she resided at Brookstone Village. Over the years, her family has grown to include five grandsons-in-law and nine great grandchildren.
