Roy N. Walton

May 18, 1964 — March 13, 2023

Loved by many and feared by a few, whether you knew him as Roy, Peanut, Wedge, or Swamproot, his passing has left a space in your life that no one can ever fill. A man of many words, Roy never missed an opportunity to regale you with one of his many stories. A masterful storyteller, who could make anyone feel like he knew you for years, so many memories of Roy will be recalling his many tales and passion for sharing even the smallest details. At times, you’d welcome a break from the mundane and other visits you would be wondering how to bring the chat to a close. His thoughts brought many an eye-roll, belly laugh, or ‘aha’ moment and you never ended a conversation without feeling he truly listened to you even if he did most of the talking. You just couldn’t help admiring and loving this gruff, man’s man, with an impish grin and big heart. Beyond his love for his family, especially wife Amy, son Matt and grandson Hendrix, Roy’s heart was dedicated to service and supporting students beginning their careers in the United States Air Force. Teaching and writing courseware were skills Roy excelled at and he would glow with pride any time he interacted with students in and out of the classroom. A Top Performer for years, for those who knew him well, none were surprised at his incredible 4-month recovery from a major, debilitating stroke. In an unthinkable short time, this man, who faced every obstacle with steel will, returned to work and routinely continued to receive recognition for the volume and quality of his work. He knew that with each lesson he was building a legacy of excellence that would resound for years to come. During his short five-week battle with cancer, he maintained an unbelievably great attitude and his ever-joking demeanor. He will forever be missed and dearly remembered by the many lives he touched. We are so sad you are gone. We are grateful you met and spent time with your grandson. Our sorrow is tempered because we know for you, there is no more pain, you are able bodied again, and you are home with Jesus. We will always love and miss you.

Roy was a veteran, having spent time in the Louisiana Army National Guard as a diesel mechanic and 21 years in the Air Force as an airborne communications systems operator. He was most recently employed by CTI as a courseware developer and instructor. He was also a member and Past Master of Plattsmouth Lodge 6 A.F. & A.M.

Roy was preceded in death by his father, Roy N. Walton Sr., sister, Roslyn A. Jones, and sister-in-law, Stacy L. Tholen.

Roy leaves behind his wife, Amy, son, Lawrence (also known as Matt), sister-in-law, Barb Pope, mother, Margie Faye Walton, brother and sister-in-law, James (Jim Bob) and Lori Walton, nephew, Luke Walton, grandson, Hendrix Walton, countless in-laws, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, nieces and a host of friends.
