Shawn Dungan

Beloved husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend. Shawn was born in St. Paul, Minnesota on September 23, 1962 to Michael and Margaret Dungan. His family moved to Omaha shortly thereafter. Shawn grew up in Omaha, graduating from Burke High School in 1981. In 1985, he began his full-time career with OPPD, and also married Kris. In 1993, Shawn and Kris welcomed their son, Drew. Over the years, Shawn has enjoyed playing sand volleyball with many friends. He loved craft beer, going to restaurants, and traveling – especially to warm sunny beaches, and Las Vegas. His wit and humor made him loved by all who knew him. Shawn recently retired from OPPD following a 31-year career. He lost his battle with pancreatic cancer on August 20, 2016, after a courageous 9 month struggle.



Shawn is preceded in death by grandparents, and uncle, James Kramnic.



He is survived by his wife, Kris; son, Drew; parents, Michael and Margaret Dungan; sister, Margy (Brett) Nielsen; nieces, Shayne and Summer Nielsen; mother-in-law, Jamie (Don Mills) Brotherton; brother-in-law, Brett Brotherton; many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and his constant companion, Tucker.
