Vincent Salvatore Finocchiaro

Finocchiaro, Vincent Salvatore June 9, 1930 – November 10, 2015, Age 85 of



Omaha, and Rancho Mirage, CA; passed away peacefully while surrounded by his



wife of 57 years, Dorene, and their eight children. Vince was preceded in death by



parents Mary and Louis Finocchiaro and brother Jerry Finocchiaro.



Born in Omaha, he was a 1948 graduate of Creighton Preparatory School and a



graduate of Creighton University. Upon graduation, he served his country proudly in



the Korean war as a Sergeant in the United States Army for Company C 73rd Tank



Battalion.



A master storyteller with an immense capacity for people, Vince was widely known



for his sense of humor and his devotion to his family, to his faith, and to hard work.



He spent his career as President of Louis Finocchiaro Wine, Inc., and was a founding



member of St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Parish. The Salvation Army, the Red Cross,



and the Rotary Club of Omaha where he served as President and Secretary are some



of the organizations he championed throughout his life. He was a member of Happy



Hollow Club in Omaha and Thunderbird Country Club in Rancho Mirage.



Vince was awarded both the Command Infantry Badge and a Bronze Star for his



service to our country. He was inducted into the Creighton Preparatory School



Sports Hall of Fame for his contributions to the 1948 undefeated football team. But



these awards pale to the pride he had for his family, wife Dorene, sons Louis



(Christine), Carl (Eileen, d.), and Peter (Tracey, d.) and daughters Theresa (Mike),



Mona (Bruce), Mia (Greg), Gina (Chad), Dianna (Joe), and 22 grandchildren; brother,



Louis (Donna) Finocchiaro; nieces and nephews.



Services:

A MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL will be held at 11:00 a.m. in St.



Visitation:

VISITATION with family receiving friends will take place on Monday, November 23rd from 9:30-11:00 a.m.



Memorials:

In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made to Creighton Preparatory School, Creighton University, St. Robert Bellarmine Parish, or Duchesne Academy of the Sacred Heart.
