Denis J. Sullivan

September 22, 1933 — February 6, 2023

Denis was born in Eldora, Iowa, the middle of 3 children born to Wesley (Jerry) and Velma Sullivan. He grew up in Marengo, Iowa and graduated from Marengo High School. He went on to Iowa University where he graduated from University of Iowa Law School. He practiced law for 5 years with Swales Law Firm. Denis returned to Iowa University and received his master's in actuarial science. He passed all 10 tests by the age of 30 and was an actuary for 30 years. (30 for 30)

Denis married Joan Wilkinson in August of 1959. They had 2 children, Kirsten and Brennan. Together, Denis and Joan enjoyed traveling, spending time with family and friends but the highlight was being a big part of their grandkids' (Jeffrey, Shannon and Colleen) lives.

Denis also enjoyed playing golf with his golfing buddies. They played the circuit of courses in Omaha and any other course they could get on.

Denis was a very quiet, mild mannered man with a great sense of humor and a very snazzy dresser. He was best known for his crazy pants and socks.

He will be greatly missed but he is reunited with his wife, of 59 years, in heaven and many other family members and friends.

Preceded in death by his loving wife of 59 years, Joan; parents, Jerry and Velma Sullivan; brother, Gary Sullivan.

Survived by his children, Kirsten (Jeff, Sr.) Wooten and Brennan Sullivan; grandchildren, Jeffrey, Shannon (Adi) and Colleen; sister Sue (Ken) Klein; his extended family and many good friends.

The family requests that attendees show their team support (Chiefs) on Sunday.
