Dolores F. Rubenstein, 74, of Bellevue, Nebraska, was surrounded by family and friends on the days preceding her passing after a short, but courageous battle against cancer on May 4, 2023.
Born January 25, 1949 in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Harry J. Sr. and Lorraine E. (Wright) Bailey. A devout Catholic, Dolores was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Lancaster. She attended St. Anthony's Catholic School and Lancaster Catholic High. Dolores and her beloved husband, Larry Rubenstein of Berwick, Pennsylvania were married shortly after she graduated high school on November 25, 1967. Upon his passing in July of 2017, they almost celebrated 50 years of marriage.
After marrying Larry, the two of them began their life in the military, moving from place to place until finally settling at Offutt Air Force Base in Bellevue, Nebraska. She served faithfully as a military wife and mother alongside Larry while also providing civil service in many roles over her thirty years before retiring.
Dolores was a faith-filled woman that loved her family and friends dearly, a loving mother and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was the kind of woman who would give you the shirt off of her back without hesitation. She was a hard worker, loved movie night with her girlfriends, playing cards and Farkle with her Richmont Senior Living friends, and dominoes with her grandkids. Dolores was a devoted friend and family member and loved visiting and receiving visits from her old high school friends and her family back East.
Dolores was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Larry of almost 50 years of marriage; her daughter, Melinda Danielle; her parents Harry Sr. (Butch) and Lorraine Bailey of Lancaster, Pennsylvania; and her four siblings – Harry Jr. (Joe) Bailey, Jim Bailey, John Bailey, Sr., and Lorraine (Sis) Sheldon.
She is survived by her two children, Michael Rubenstein (Christy) and Michelle McGrath (Chuck); her grandchildren Sebastian, Alaina, and Sophia Rubenstein; Damien and Heven Burkhardt; Kaitlyn, Cassandra, and Xavier McGrath; and her two great-grandchildren Henry and Laelah.
