Joan M. Schroeder

Joan Mae Schroeder entered glory on February 16, 2024.  Joan was born on May 30, 1932 in San Francisco, CA.  In 1956, while serving as a Navy WAVE, she met a sailor from Minnesota, Dennis Schroeder. They were married for 65 years, spending the first 43 years in Minnesota.  Joan loved painting, entertaining, singing in the church choir, and cheering on the Northwestern College Eagles – especially when her son was playing. She was known as “Rose” to her husband and Mama Rose to the hundreds of student athletes that she encouraged, fed, and supported through the years.  In 2000, she and Dennis retired to Omaha, Nebraska.  She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Ruth Leepin, husband, Dennis; grandson, Will Morrissey.  She is survived by her children Jeff (Barb) Schroeder of Houston, TX and Kris (Brian) Morrissey of Omaha, NE; grandchildren: Dillon (Kandice) Schroeder, Jack (Camille) Morrissey, Kendall (Max) Modica, and Molly Morrissey; and brother, Larry Leepin of Cotati, CA. Memorials may be directed to the Athletic Department at the University of Northwestern, St. Paul.

Funeral Service Thursday, March 14, 2024 at 12:30PM at Coram Deo Church 8787 Pacific St., Omaha, NE.  Visitation from 11:30 – 12:30PM at church as well. Light refreshments will be served during the visitation in lieu of a luncheon.  Burial with military honors at Omaha National Cemetery.
