Josie was born in Leigh, NE on August 27, 1928. Being raised on a farm during the Great Depression shaped her years. She learned the virtues of hard work, the value of a dollar and the value of a strong Catholic faith.
After high school, Josie ventured to Omaha to do secretarial work. She met her future husband Joe, when he returned from WWII serving in the Navy.
Josie and Joe raised 12 children in a modest home. This was her greatest accomplishment. Tirelessly exemplifying what it was to be a mother, a loving wife and a doting grandmother of 29 and great grandmother to 37, with 2 more on the way.
She battled through many challenges in her life, quietly, with courage from her confidence in believing in God’s love in our lives. She said that the two greatest gifts in her life were her faith and her family. She felt that, the more you age, the more you realize that faith, and doing God’s will, are really the cornerstones of life and the only things that really matter.
Josie’s family and devotion to God through her Catholic faith were the center of her life. Her wisdom and guidance as the matriarch of her family will be greatly missed.
