Larry Leon Alexander

September 20, 1949 — July 1, 2023

Larry Leon Alexander was born on September 20, 1949 in Omaha, Nebraska. He was the son of Melvin & Virginia (Long) Alexander.

Larry graduated from Benson High School in 1967. He worked as a line mechanic for a Ford dealership. He worked for several years in the maintenance department at UNMC. Retiring in 1997 due to health issues.

In 1983, Larry purchased 8 acres of land. With the the help of one hired laborer and his son, Jesse, Larry began building a small home and even larger pole barn. He enjoyed his home in the country. He would always comment on the view when mowing across the backside of the property. Winter snow was another matter. In the early years, he would plow the snow with his trusty Oliver tractor. He only had the back blade on the tractor so all snow was pushed going backwards! Years later he did purchase an older snowplow for his pickup, making snow removal much easier.

Larry & Patty enjoyed going for rides in the country. He loved local history, civil war history and steamboat history. Over the years he has collected many, many books and read every one of them. He enjoyed American Pickers, old western movies, American Pickers, Forged in Fire and American Pickers.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother Greg and son, Jesse. He is survived by his wife, Patty of 20 years; two daughters, Denise Wurgler of Elkhorn, Nebraska, Teri Kolvek of Omaha, Nebraska; three stepchildren, James (Pamela) Moore of Las Vegas, Nevada, Tammy Jo (Jessica) Posner of Porter, Texas, Nicole Robertson of Fort Calhoun, Nebraska; brother, Jerry Alexander of Omaha, Nebraska; sister, Pattie Behmer of Omaha, Nebraska; 13 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends.
