Martin G. Olsen Lt Col USAF (Ret.)



Martin was born in Muskegon, MI to Gustav and Henrietta Olsen. He proudly served his country in the US Air Force for 26 years. In December 1960, he married his wife, Joy, and together raised their 5 children. After retiring from the Air Force, he taught in Omaha Public Schools, Eppley Treatment Center at Methodist Adolescent Unit, and was the Dean of Students at Bellevue East High School. Martin was an avid fisherman, gardener, woodworker and enjoyed being a member of the Bellevue Masonic Lodge and the Shriners’ Chanter’s Choir.



Preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jerry Olsen. Survived by his wife, Joy; children: Martin (Melinda), Jon, Susan, Carolyn (Roger) Bodnar, and Col. Peter (Tiffany) Olsen; 19 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; siblings: Lorraine (Jerry) Quigg, Barb (Mike) Krawchuk, Dick (Marlene) Olsen and Leslie Pastula.



Visitation Sunday, Oct. 17, 2021 from 3:00-5:00PM with a Masonic Service at 4:30PM at John A. Gentleman Mortuaries Bellevue Chapel. Memorial Service with military honors Monday at 10:30AM at Immanuel Lutheran Church,104 Galvin Rd N, Bellevue. Inurnment at Omaha National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Immanuel Lutheran Church or Shriners Hospital for Children.
