Merrie Carlene Ingram

December 8, 1944 — October 21, 2021

Merrie “Carlene” (King) Ingram was born in December, 1944 in Hamburg, IA to Carl and Elsa King and died in October, 2021 in Bellevue, NE. She attended and graduated school in Farragut, IA.

In 1965 Carlene married Joe Ingram in Lincoln, where she was a telephone operator. They traveled with the US Air Force living in Turkey, Virginia, Wyoming and Germany before settling in Bellevue. Carlene considered Joe her best friend in life, and they were happily married for 56 years.

Carlene was adventurous long before influencers started posting online. She loved exploring Wyoming, hunting, fishing, and camping. She was passionate in her love of all animals, and leaves behind her cat Luna, dog Shandy and Toby the Turtle. Her only exceptions were snakes, who she was a sworn enemy of. She enjoyed gardening and painting, and spending time with family. She is remembered as an amazing and prodigious cook. She instilled in her kids a love of history and family roots and was fond of telling stories of the Forney, Blackburn and King family histories.

Carlene is survived by husband Joe, who she has been married to since 1965. She is also survived by three sisters, Ruth, Toni and Kathy. She has two children, Gary with daughter-in-law Ann, and Cean, with three grandchildren Amber, Justin and Paige. She is survived by her sisters-in-law Beverly and Malinda and brother-in-law Tim. Carlene is survived by numerous beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Carl and Elsa King of Bartlett, Iowa.

The family would like to express their gratitude for the outpouring of love and support that has come from everyone who’s life she has touched.
