Tanya Winegard

Tanya Winegard, age 52 of Omaha, passed away at home surrounded by her loving family on October 28, 2023. “Baseball Mom” was amongst Tanya’s favorite titles, she truly lived for her family and was so proud of her sons, Gabe and Noah. She was also a beloved member of the Creighton University family where she worked the past 26 years, most recently as the Vice Provost for Student Life. Tanya had unwavering faith and said she was “truly blessed” for the love and support of her family and friends over these past 15 months.

Left to celebrate Tanya’s memory are her loving husband, Michael Winegard; sons, Gabriel Winegard and Noah Winegard; mother, Mary Jo Shinkunas; sister, Sara (August) Sandberg, brothers, Scott (Leah) Shinkunas, Todd (Laura) Shinkunas; aunt & uncle – Patricia and John Hail, who were like parents to Tanya; father-in-law, Ronald Winegard; sister-in-law, Brenda (Anthony) Banawa; nephews, Ivan, Christian, Ashton & Braylon. Preceded in death by father, Douglas Shinkunas and mother-in-law, Donna Winegard.

Visitation will be held at John A. Gentleman Mortuary, Pacific Street Chapel, from 5-7PM on Thursday, November 2nd with a Wake Service at 7PM. Funeral Service to follow 10AM on Friday, November 3^rd at St. John’s at Creighton University with visitation beginning at 9:30AM. In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to ‘Memories for Kids’ (www.memoriesforkids.org/)or may also be made out to Creighton University in Tanya’s name and will be used to honor her legacy.
