Timothy “Tim” John Larson, born on March 4, 1945, passed away on July 18, 2024. He was the beloved son of Carl and LaVerne (Olson) Larson, and brother to Marla and Lael. Tim was preceded in death by his parents and brother. He is survived by his loving wife, Paula (Brislen), his children, Kirstin (Mike) Petersen, Andrew (Sandi) Larson, and Zachary (Michaela) Larson. His grandchildren, Alec, Ethan, Emma, and Katelyn Petersen, Andrew, Addyson, Ana, Jacob, and Samuel Larson, will cherish his memory. He is also survived by his Aunt Jean (Tates) Larson; brother-in-law, Dennis (Janice) Brislen; niece, Amy (Jim) Dodson; nephew, Brian (Crystal) Brislen; along with many relatives and friends.
Tim grew up in Minneapolis, Minnesota, where he graduated from Washburn High School in 1963. Tim continued his education at Midland University (formerly Midland Lutheran College), earning a BS in Secondary Education in 1968. He furthered his education by earning an MS in Computers in Education from Lesley College.
Tim dedicated over 35 years to teaching, shaping the minds of students in Nebraska. He taught Drama and English at Beatrice High School and Millard South High School (formerly Millard High School). He finished his teaching career by teaching English at Technical High School and Central High School in Omaha.
His career was marked by significant accomplishments. He directed and coached students on how to develop their creative potential through the theater arts. He developed alternative curriculums for students with learning challenges in English, and finally he facilitated the integration of computers in curriculum development and teaching.
Tim was often described as kind, humble, creative, and funny. His love for his family and friends was evident, and he was deeply loved in return. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
As Tim often believed and lived by the quote: “Live a Good Life… and in the end, it’s not about the years in the life but the life in the years.” ~ Abraham Lincoln. His life was a testament to this philosophy.
A memorial service will be held to celebrate Tim’s life and legacy on August 1st at St. Michael Lutheran Church at 11am, visitation one hour prior. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to: Nebraska Public Media Foundation or Kountze Food Pantry c/o Kountze Memorial Lutheran Church or a charity of their choice.
