OUR  HISTORY

John A. Gentleman Mortuaries's History

Since 1906, when John A. Gentleman began serving families, our community has changed in many ways. Our firm also matured and changed to meet the needs of a growing community. From our humble beginning at 20th and Cuming Street we have been there to assist families in providing a final tribute to those who have died.

It was in the 1920's that the firm moved into the Gold Coast area of Omaha at 34th and Farnam Street and in 1968 the facility at 72nd and Western Avenue was opened. Once again, in 2002, we have responded to Omaha's western growth by opening a facility at 14151 Pacific Street and in 2005 our Funeral Home and Cremation center was opened in Bellevue to serve the needs of Bellevue and Sarpy County.

In 1956, John A. Gentleman retired and sold his firm to the Belford family, who continue to provide local ownership and guidance. While the name remains the same, we strive today to provide excellence in all our services. Every day we come to work knowing that we can, in some way, provide a service that assists families in creating a unique service that celebrates a life.
